VOLUNTEER SPEAKERS Coordinated by the
Washington Insurance Council

CONSUMER QUESTIONS
For many people, insurance can be confusing. The concept is simple, but the process can be complex. It's a world of peculiar terms, unfamiliar company procedures, questions about what's covered and what's not and how all of this relates to the cost of insurance.

EDUCATION
The Washington Insurance Council was formed in 1968 as a consumer education/information organization. WIC is a nonprofit representative of the insurance industry. Committed to educating the public in the state of Washington, WIC presents the facts about how insurance works and suggests ways for the consumer to prevent loss. This in turn can have a positive effect on premium costs.

THE EDUCATION AND OUTREACH COMMITTEE
WIC sponsors an educational program made up of local volunteers who speak in their communities. These speakers present free, non-commercial, timely information. WIC speakers work with civic groups, service clubs, schools, and may other gatherings to share up-to-date information with consumers. These knowledgeable speakers are trained on a variety of insurance related topics.

KNOWLEDGE BUILDS UNDERSTANDING

This "people to people" approach -- talking with consumers about their insurance questions -- is a valuable means of communicating the various aspects of the insurance story.
