Joint press conference to warn quake victims about repair fraud

SEATTLE – FEMA, the Washington Attorney General’s Office, the Office of the Washington Insurance Commissioner, the Department Labor & Industries and the Building Industry Association of Washington join the Washington Insurance Council to issue a warning to quake victims about earthquake repair fraud.

Rings of con artists posing as repair specialists usually flock to disaster sites from around the country to victimize homeowners a second time.  The warning messages will include the most common tricks and tips for how to spot them.

A joint press conference will be held Friday at 10 a.m. in the W Hotel, Studio 7, at 1112 Fourth Avenue in Seattle to warn earthquake victims about home repair fraud.  Parking is available in the hotel garage.
